A great opening ceremony, regardless of the final cauldron glitch. Loved the autumn sequence with the fiddlers and tartan, though I was itching for some kilted bagpipers to join in at that point.
Vancouver, BC, and Canada can be rightfully proud...!

If I'm not mistaken, the outdoor cauldron is the "official" one, as it is required by the Olympic rules for the flame to be seen throughout the city; ergo, the Great One did light the official caudron himself.

Lots of tartan...regardless of the "kilt-like garments"...has to be a good thing.

I was hoping that the Simon Fraser pipe band would be included, but the ceremony was still pretty amazing. Maybe they'll show up in the closing ceremony. (fingers crossed)

I would have liked to see Burnaby (Vancouver suburb) boy Michael J. Fox involved somehow.

That was my favorite part of the ceremony also. All of the costumes were really great. Also liked how everyone was done up in the tatoos.

I have seen Gretzky spelled with an ess instead of a zed. As I understand, zed is the British pronunciation of the letter "z".

True, but Wayne's name is with the zed.

Those tartan things were hardly kilts, but the fiddle music was great.
