    Joining the Maple Leaf gang - Kilt Night

    Greetings all;
    Last night in Costa Mesa, CA we threw a kilt night along with our regular gig { Mike Kelly's Celtic Ceili }. I had my new Maple Leaf tartan from Sportkilt, irsh dance competition winner Keara Osborne wore the Firefighter tartan kilt by SK, and my friend from high school (oh so long ago ... ) Suzanne Engen borrowed my Hawaiian State SK until she gets one of her own.
    3 kilts isn't a bad start says I.

    Nice photos. Three kilts is definitely a good start.

    I believe that one was custom made.

    Exactly, tell us more CT. Would hate to ruin my CCK ML (unless there's a kilt check involved) in some mundane task but could handle the same to SK.

    Maple Leaf by golly ... long story

    Yes this is a custom kilt in Maple Leaf. The story is thus: I purchased 5 metres of said tartan after it was pointed out to me by Sheep in Wolf's Clothing on Ebay (it's been a while, not 100% sure) and at first the woman on the other end didn't have it and refunded my money, then she found some and sent it anyway. I was going to sew it myself but after 1.5 attempts at sewing my own I determined I don't have the talent to live up to my own demands so I looked for someone to sew it for me. The one person sewing locally never responded and I mentioned it in passing to the gents at Sportkilt.
    They asked me to bring it by sometime and when I did they said "Can we give it a try ?" I said why not. They also handed me a few mini kilts to distibute to girls I might know (see above picture).
    Their sewing ladies put some nice effort into pleating it properly and it took a little longer than expected but I like it.
    One of my bartenders is contemplating his first kilt now.

    CT - always glad to add to the fray

    side note: Sportkilt is right up the street from my friend's helicopter, Athearn Model Trains, and down the street from my friend's restaurant and bar, the same street as my fiddle player.
