Why should anyone need to measure your inside leg? You are being measured for a kilt, for goodness sake.

Jock, Auld Argonian mentioned a scene from Are you being served, not measuring for a kilt.

Ok, point taken! On a serious note, wear whatever you are going to wear as tailors are adept in making allowances for the odd layer of clothing and only when you go for a fitting will the final fine adjustments be made. Your modesty will be preserved at all times, I assure you.

If you are wearing p@@nts the kilt waist will be higher so there will be no probs with measurement. Easiest way is to measure your existing kilt (provided it fits) which means taking it off. Who knows? You might find a new friend after getting measured. Mind you there was a woman working in the shop when I was in there. Maybe she does the measuring?

Yes, and his response to Mr. Humphries' fumbling efforts was, "Are ye daft?"

Yes, I did, and it worked out well. A few years ago, I was kilted at the Long's Peak Highland Games in Estes Park, CO, and got measured wearing my kilt by Geoffrey Tailor Kiltmakers for my Cameron of Erracht kilt. It fits very well.
