2010 Frederick Celtic Festival
Hello Everyone! Just thought I'd post a heads up on the date, and some info, for the 2010 Frederick Celtic Festival.
We'll be at the Frederick Fairgrounds again this year, May 8, from 10am-7pm.
Last year we had great weather the day of, but our first year at the Fairgrounds was a bit...difficult...as they closed the field we were going to use for the Highland Games due to a sink hole! We had to do some quick rearranging, but it worked out in the end.
This year's bands are all local to the Frederick area - A Rose Between Two Thorns, That Raucous Crew, Moch-Pryderi and Rant and Roar. Once again we also have the "MacGratis Tent", where other local Celtic bands play for free, to get their name out! We will be using the stage and the grand stand this year for our main entertainment are. Our Beer Garden is back and better than ever - we'll have a huge tent set up next to the Entertainment Stage so you won't have to go far to hear the music - and you'll be out of the sun!
Highland Dancing, Irish Step Dancing, Scottish Country Dancing and Medieval English Dancing are going to make a great show in the Dancer's area, under the Grand Stand.
The pro's Highland Games will also run through the day. This year we are also going to be having a 7-a-side Gaelic Football Tournament. We have some fabulous sponsor's this year - including Maryland Public TV and The Bay 100.7!
Our website is http://www.sasmm.com. We'll be updating the site as we get information and tickets will be going on sale online March 1st-April 15th. This year we are teamed up with the American Cancer Society so a portion of all ticket funds will be going to the ACS to help find a cure for cancer.
Hope to see you there! (IF all this snow melts by then????).

Good advice, Frank! These served me well there in '08.

Frederick Celtic for 2010
Herself and I plan on being there. I found the fairgrounds to be a good change for the event. The ground is good and solid, and there is a paved walking area, (also good for wheelchairs / powerchairs) lots of parking. Better that at the Urbanna location year before last ('08), no wellies needed. We'll see you there.
Cheers all,
Brian

I sincerely hope there will be no need for wellies!! Even with all the rain last year it wasn't muddy .
Glad to know you all will be able to make it! I'll post any other pertinent updates as we go along.

There were a few spots of mud, as it had rained for about a week before the festival. I remember, because I had mud caked on my shoes over the mud from the year before. After this crappy winter, lets just pray for mild weather this summer.
