    illuminating hadrians wall

    illuminating hadrians wall plan
ive been aware of this for a while but i was just reading up about it tonight

the plan is to light at 250m intervals a beacon from one end of the hadrians wall to the other ..coast to coast ,its a sight id love to see with my own eyes if money wasn't a issue id be down to see it ....but news snippets and photos will have to do i think its a great idea showing the old wall in that way

ive not had the pleasure of seeing the old wall or any of its forts ,i live a few miles from the antonine wall though but not much is left of that one compared to the hadrians wall

ive added this site for more info on the process of what its all about

    http://www.illuminatinghadrianswall.com/site/

and heres a wee site for the antonine wall

    http://www.antoninewall.org/visiting.php

Bugger! I am so disappointed I will miss this! I first visited Hexham in 1982 and made close friends and many trips there. I have visited Hadrians Wall many times, in fact as I write I have a replica map of the wall commissioned by the Duke of Northumberland in 1907, on the wall above me. (a wedding gift)
Enjoy! I certainly wish I could attend.

Very cool. Thanks for the link. Riding or hiking Hadrians wall is one of my would-like-to-do's if I ever get the chance.

As well as lighting up Hadrian's Wall, are the English putting up guard towers too ?

Hmmm, very interesting. I did a fair amount of hiking along Hadrian's Wall in the late 1970's, in the Hexham, Once Brewed, Twice Brewed, Haydon Bridge, Haltwhistle area. Spectacular country!

I've done the section of Hadrian's Wall that is on the Pennine Way. A really interesting hike.

They should paint David Copperfield with woad and get him to repeat his "Squeezing Through The Great Wall Of China" stunt
