So many things are multi-region these days, I'm surprised that they didn't release it as such.

Bad enough that I have to wait for the Terry Pratchett stuff to show up on Amazon.com in the Region 1 format...but at least that I know will show up...this, I'm not so sure...

If you do end up with a non-Region 1 DVD: To get an all-regions DVD player here in Canada it used to be necessary to go to a big Chinatown, where they were (and are) imported for that specific function. More recently they seem to be everywhere, esp the cheaper models, and American friends have specifically told me they are sold at Costco. Well they told me that last summer. Due to a fondness for Japanese films, I couldn't be without one myself.

Yes - over here too the budget model dvd players seem to play anything. Why not take a look on the BBC shop and drop them a note to ask if it will become available.

BBC America has A History of Scotland - Castles and Clans. Is this the correct series?

I saw one episode of this show; they were doing William Wallace. One show was all it took to get hooked. Hope to be able to get the DVD's sometime. On a side note I did see the book version of this in Chapters (A Canadian bookstore chain for those not in the know).

It is also worth check the interwebs for information on making your specific model of DVD player region-free, as a lot of manufacturers seem to include this in the back-end. My DVD player just required a few numbers typed in on the remote and now it is completely region free.
