What's with all of the titles?
I've noticed that there are titles below everyones login name:
Kilted Samurai
Kilted Gentry
Grand Defender of the Kilt
Kilted Regiment
Kilted Member
Kilted Warrior
Kilted Gentleman of Arizona
Kilted Elder
Kilted Regiment
Kilted Member [New]
I am guessing that they are based on the number of posts that have been submitted. Is that right?
Any clues as to the number of posts required to reach the next level?
How does one obtain a custom title (as I've seen a few)?
Just wondering...Thanks

Its written in the rules ,or some such, here and no doubt some cleaver soul will point you in the right direction. You are right though, the "titles" do work on the number of posts you make. "Custom titles"? Well they just appear for no rhyme, or, reason. It is just a matter of "some one" out there thinks you ought to have one. It is a singular honour to receive one.

Click on "Quick Links" at the upper right side of this window, then click on "FAQ". That should lead you to the list of ranks and titles.
As Jock says, I'm a cleaver soul.

When given a choice, most people will choose.

Re: What's with all of the titles?
You will notice that there is a slight difference in the current wording to the FAQ's about Post Rank Titles.
In the beginnings of X Marks, having Goals to reach for was a neat idea. We had the highest rank set at 5000 posts. When we were only 100 members we never thought that someone would reach 5000 posts.
Today, X Marks is a huge forum. Many of our members have made many thousands of posts.
It is now felt that these Post Rank Titles are outdated. They give a sense of separating us instead of bringing us together.
As we prepare to release a new 'skin' and look to the forum we will be discontinuing the Post Rank Titles.
We will also be discontinuing all of the Special Titles. Some of these were used in the past as a sort of 'reward'. As we all come here with the same interest and passion for the kilt it is thought that these Special Titles give much the same feel as the Post Rank Titles. They make some feel 'special' while leaving some feeling left out. This is not what we are here for. We are here to enjoy the company of anyone with a love for the kilt.
We will use Titles under a members' username to help identify members of our staff and for some of our advertisers only.
I know some members like the Post Rank Titles and the Special Titles. I know that some members will probably feel slighted by not having them.
If you truly appreciate the kilt and are an active, participating member of this forum and have contributed to our discussions. There are ways we will recognize that contribution.
Please stay tuned for some further explanation. We are not yet ready to release or announce the new forum so cannot 'let the cat out of the bag'. I hope to be able to make the announcement in just a few days.

I think the titles are useful, in that they indicate those who have been here a while. I didn't find them off-putting when I joined at all. Feel free to re-instate them Steve.

They really do not indicate how long someone has been here. The indicate how many posts a certain person has. Since a post can be 1 word or 100, I am not sure if it anything except that person has a lot to say.
