    No, in my experience they actually think that they will be warmer in their puir wimpy blue jeans! I have to be careful not to injure myself by falling down laughing:

    Then I explain as tactfully as possible that I'm wearing about 4.5 kilograms of wool, and what's their excuse anyway?

    I think a lot of people just assume that cold breezes travel in straight lines until they meet a kilt, then they magically swirl upwards to cool off the long suit (or shortcomings) of the kilt wearer.
    Last week the Mrs. and I took a stroll around our neighborhood, about a mile all together. There was about 5 inches of snow on the ground, with temperatures in the upper 20s. I wore my 4-yard box-pleat MacDougall and a pair of Army-uniform store socks, with waterproof boots. From the kneecap down, my legs were cold. From the kneecaps up, I was perfectly toasty.
