You mention some good choices for a first kilt. I am pretty new to kilting myself and also always warm. The only thing I would say is, don't rule out wool. It is the only material I would consider for a kilt. It has woked for sheep forever, summer as well as winter. It really is the first miracle fiber. And a Stillwater heavyweight is very afordable.

As the kilt fashion boom blossoms you'll find all sorts of kiltmakers from old established to brand new start-ups. And you'll find middlemen who can "get it for you."

My suggestion, born of experience, is to deal direct with a kiltmaker rather than a middleman. Just choose one.

You'll be ordering plenty of other kilts ere long.

Just remember - you can have any two of price, service, or quality.
