Mid-Atlantic Road Trip
A week ago, I returned from a driving trip through the Mid-Atlantic states. Took a bit longer than I expected. Mother Nature dumped snow everywhere I went. Highlights included Chattanooga, Tennessee to visit friends, and Franklin, North Carolina.
Chattanooga is surrounded by mountains, plenty of places for scenic views. A ride up/down the Lookout Mountain's Incline Railway gives some wonderful vistas.
Another view of the Chattanooga from Signal Mountain, Lookout Mountain in the background.
A visit to the Hunter Museum of American Art . Old and new architecture blended into multiple galleries.
And they allow photographs of the art (without flash). Andy Warhol "Lillian Carter" 1977.
This bridge takes a bit of explanation. It's a glass bridge that connects the museum to the aquarium area. I walked on it, but no pics to prove it. But I can finally answer that age old question...
Q: How many people will slow their cars to stare up at a man in a kilt on a glass bridge?
A: All of them. And one lady even squealed her tires.
Another road-trip. Off to North Carolina. Through the Smokey Mountains.
And finally to my favorite destination.
I had to visit the museum and say "Hi" to Matt Newsome. Plus there was plenty of time for chatting, and shopping and enough time to order a custom kilt. (Begin Jones here....) Matt was a gracious host and I had a wonderful time talking about tartan, box pleats, knife pleats, argyle jackets, and all things kilted. A fun trip and worthwhile destination.

Looks like a good tour in spite of the snow.
Same issue with the glass staircase at the Apple store here. But you almost want to ask the gawkers, "Whaddaya think? There's a light under here like in a refrigerator?"

A small geographic quibble: NC and TN are not generally considered Mid-Atlantic states...
