Just be glad you're not like a local piper who lost 43 lbs between the time he ordered the kilt and the time he picked it up 4 months after it was completed (6 months from the initial order date). His wife almost KILLED him when the kilt fell of at the tightest setting. My response was simply "you shouldn't get measured for a custom garment and then go on a diet and lose 40 Lbs b/c the new garment won't fit". A few tweeks and we got it fiting 'pretty well', but he definitely learned a lesson.

I suggest replacing the sporran chain with an all-leather sporran strap. A strap should look better with causal wear and will be kinder to the kilt than metal chain.

A side-by-side before and after shot would be great. Even with Rocky's explanation I'm a bit confused. I don't think I've ever really gotten a good look at myself in a kilt from every angle so I'm wondering how well mine fits now. The measurements I had to take myself were among the most stressful part of ordering my first kilt. That and the jonesing! More and more it looks like I might be making a 3 hr drive to USAK.

That post describes what happens when too much of the hip/abdomen mmt split ends up in the back rather than the front. The kilt then becomes a little too big around the fell and you get the wavy hem.

Actually, I think you wear it quite well! It looks great, and I like the choice of grey shirt/socks with that tartan. It really makes it stand out.

The only two things I'd recommend are to go with proper kilt hose and garters, and to use a sporran belt instead of the chain for this casual look (and I would not run the belt/chain through the belt loops on the sides of the kilt).

First of all, congratulations on the new kilt! I'm glad you got things sorted. I'd echo the comment about not putting your sporran strap/chain through the loops. Just let it hang by itself.
Oh - and your smile says it all!
