Radiation therapy is no joking matter, but I think we know each other well enough that you will allow me this one bit of levity. At least we know that when your are through this treatment regimen, through this rough patch, and when you return kilted to show your face again here on the forum, that we will all be able to say you are truly "glowing" in the return of your grandeur of old.
Ham , you know you always have my support, my number, my empathy, my respect, and my best wishes for an easy path and happy outcome. All available candles lit and all fingers crossed for you, my friend. Heck, I'll even cross my toes if it will help. Be well.

This has occupied my mind for a while, indeed it continues to do so, almost to the exclusion of everything else.
I try to keep in touch and 'lurk' from time to time, but my heart is not in the forums or anything else really since concentration is a short-lived luxury. Although I seldom stray far from my home now I am still, of course, kilted full-time - but I have not bought any new kilts or accessories since March of last year.
Please: I have not told you this out of a desire for sympathy, but as a means of addressing your concern, for which I am most grateful. I WILL be back, once I have been made aware of my future situation.
Take care,
Ham.
All my best Hamish.

Again, to you all a huge "Thank You" for all your wonderful and indeed treasured messages of support at this trying time. Followng my recent first consultation with my Colorectal Specialist Surgeon, I have now had a similar meeting with my Oncologist and the Colorectal Specialist Nurse to whom I have been assigned. She is available 24 hrs to answer my queries, listen to my worries or simply to hold my hand if necessary!
The course of radiotherapy is expected to begin in a few weeks at Brighton, a 45 minute drive from Storrington, and I will have to attend there every week-day for five or six weeks. This could be followed by a short chemotherapy course, maybe more radiotherapy, and a rest period before the surgery can take place.
If all goes to plan, I can look forward to thinking about kilts Nos.100A and 100B sometime in September - well maybe I'll be able to think about them before then, if nothing else!
Keep up the good work in my absence, and keep those pleats a'swingin'.
Take care,
Ham.

Know that you're in our thoughts and prayers Hamish.
My mom went through both chemo- and radio-therapy last year for breast cancer, so I know it's not a pleasant experience. But, she seems to have come through it with outstanding results, so you can too.
Keep your spirits up and know that we're all here for you.
