I don't think they are the Mountain Hardware Kilts. Just curious, what colour did you buy?

YES... I would wear it, not the first one though, there isn't any pleats and it looks like a skirt...
BTW........I love the Chacos!

I just came across this kilt again while looking at some outdoor gear (LINK HERE) and I was wondering if anyone knew what the total length of the kilt is. The specification listed by that merchant mention a 21.5" inseam, which is totally useless since it's a friggin' kilt. I send an inquiry to Mountain Hardwear, but I thought I'd ask here too.

Thanks for the update. I had forgotten about it's release. $75 is a bit expensive for this IMHO but I applaud the redesign.

I have one of the original designs. It doesn't work well without the pleats. The new design should be much better.

I think there's probably a place for a kind of kilt that's lightweight, quick-dry, and you can pack in with the rest of your gear and not have to worry about pristine pleats.
Thanks for the sneak peek.

Yeah, I'm hoping it'll actually fit me, but most off the rack kilts have that damn 24" length which either comes up to my armpits or down to my shins...

From the article...
1. Air-y-ness. The breeze is nice up there, I gotta say. Ever hovered over an AC vent in the summertime? That’s what I’m talking about. (I assume this pleasant zephyr is the key feature to those with the propensity for chafe-age).
Guilty , and this is part of why I like my kilt so much!
Also, from the article:
1. Pleats. I don’t think a kilt drastically out-performs a pair of shorts, but at the same time, I can’t think of a single thing I didn’t like about it, performance-wise. I’m not a big fan of the pleats in back, but that’s tradition
Well bro, if it didn't have those pleats, then you'd be just another crossdressing hiker no matter what you're calling it, wouldn't you?
...I'm glad they put the pleats in. It makes a huge difference, though I still cannot put my finger on why.
The review was pretty funny . Wave if you see me on the trail this summer...

I think it sad if the only differnce between a cross dresser and a kilt wear is in the pleats. I think it more attitude.
I'm interested in knowing when this new kilt is available. Making it elusive is probably a marketing strategy to keep up the demand and price. But then again it's Mountain Hardwear so the price is always high. I have one of their original designs in a medium and it is at a perfect total length of 21". But after wearing my newer kilts with pleats -USA, Amerikilt, Stillwater it's hard to go back and I welcome the new pleated design. You certainly can't beat the tough nylon material, the weight, ease of drying and packability of these. The new design has more material and weight though. I paid $49 for the original but wouldn't hesitate to pay $75 for the new one if it feels just as comfortable as the old.
Please post here when anyone finds one. Thanks.
