Well, I pulled the trigger last week. I got a score on eBay from Tartan54 (mytartan.com) for an 8yd PV in my current size. If I continue onto my goal (only 13 more lbs to lose) I'll need a smaller size, but I got this one for a good enough deal that I can probably get close to my money back.
It's in a tartan I'm not familiar with called "Heather of Scotland" that appears to be a modified "Flower of Scotland" (Gunn) but with a heather purple instead of the red.
A tartan search pulled up nothing, so it may not be registered.
Anywho, it just arrived today after one week. It needs a steam, and possibly a pressing to sharpen a few pleats that got squashed in the post.
First impression when trying it on is how heavy it is. I cannot imagine a regimental weight wool kilt. It'd be like wearing armour!
Hopefully I'll have pix tomorrow or Wed. Good thing I got my belt and sporran strap finished today (along with new braids and tassels for the sporran)
