You look very appropriately dressed in all of the photos, whether formal or casual.

I noticed a tattersal shirt in a few of the photos. I think tattersal looks especially appropriate for Highland day wear.

I also agree with your opinion of the Prince Charlie -- I would very much favor a regulation doublet myself, or a simple black Argyle, which is what I wear.

Regarding your wife's sash, I think it looks perfectly fine as pictured! The "tradition" dictating on what shoulder the sash may be worn is one that I think should be consigned to the trash bin. In my research, it seems to be a "tradition" that has no real prescedent and was just made up for the sake of having rules -- and not that long ago, at that. I say let the ladies' wear their sashed how they wish!

Fantastic set of pics and they show how well and co-ordinated you look, and very handsome might I add.

The comments about the ladies' sash. It is at odds with with the Chiefs Lady and what the RSCDS say as to which shoulder, so I agree that any is ok and not to be so pedantic about what is correct or not. Let us move into the 21st century and enjoy wearing tartan sashes for the lady on any shoulder.

Piper, Matt Pantaleoni and I at a local Tartan Day celebration. I am wearing a lovat blue jacket and waistcoat, Macpherson red ancient kilt, animal mask sporran, lovat blue hose, plain brogues from Loake, plain navy Balmoral, and have my cromach. Matt wears the Murray of Atholl tartan though he owns several kilts in different tartans. He's of Italian descent, obviously, and is an extraordinary piper, piping instructor, and mate. He travels to Scotland every summer to compete all around Scotland. He has also competed in London for the Bratach Gorm (the blue banner).

I think your friend there is not wearing the Murray of Atholl tartan. Here is a detail of the tartan.


Note the red stripe appears on every other blue ground and every green ground. This is not the case with his kilt.

The kilt looks to me to be the Armstrong tartan, which is one I also wear.
