Hair Sporrans

One can't help but noticing that in all of these illustrations the kilt "breaks" just at, or just above, the top of knee. Likewise the hose are worn several inches below the knee cap.

Traditionally, this is how it is supposed to be done.

I thought I might add a few of my own

Recently I've been wearing a vintage horsehair sporran with my Argyll jacket, but the problem is that it isn't any good for holding anything much!

So yesterday I got on Ebay a long goat hair sporran, modern made, that the whole body is one large pocket.

I intend on replacing the modern cantle with my wonderful Celtic Dragon vintage cantle. I'll post photos when I get that done.

Can't wait to see it!

It was my pleasure to meet him on a couple occasions at my local games (he resided in British Columbia).

I realize he is the late Chief of the Clan MacTavish (he looks great, apart from the cream hose!), and I certainly do not mean any disrespect here, but I actually prefer my long hair sporran to reach past the selvedge of my kilt-not by a whole lot, but with the longer hair sporrans, I just think it looks better that way.

They are VERY smart-only with evening wear though-in my opinion. I am not so sure I'd wear one with day wear-even if it had the appropriate, plain cantle, and perhaps had a body made of grey or brown hair, with or without black or white plain coned tassles. Not sure on that one yet, anything's possible though.
