I tend to agree...think of kids in puddle boots (Wellingtons, maybe, across the pond? )...it looks goofy. Hell, adults in rubber boots look goofy, too.

Yeah, definitely check out some lace-ups. I wear a pair of pull-on boots pretty much daily, similar to the boots in the pic, but with a higher rise...I'd never wear them with anything but pants, or the excess material to allow for pull-on and leg movement would look silly.

On the other hand, I can certainly see wearing my Red Wings with my trad kilt, assuming I had the right hose. Depending on the boots, you can get punk, casual, or downright "don't f@#$ around with the guy in the kilt"...but IMHO that's all with lace-ups, not the style to which you refer.

I do this all the time at home. If I'm wearing my kilt around the house and I need to go put the horses in the barn, I slip on my muck boots. And yes, it looks pretty goofy! But it's OK - no one can see me. I don't think I'd go out in public like that.

Lace-up Red Wings (steel-toe work boots) are what I wear when I decide to wear boots with my kilt. And I keep my hose pulled up and tied with garter ties.
