Only yesterday I had made the observation in this thread that shortly after RetroRed had taken the Saltire to Sedona, a whole series of new friendships for xmarkers had been spawned. So on my way to meet Starbjkrus at Carlisle this morning, with the wee Saltire in the car beside me, I was amazed to discover that I was being followed by a vehicle whose registration plate appeared to read SEDONA. I let him pass, and yes indeed there was SEDONA spelt out in close proximity to the wee Saltire!!

I met Starbjkrus at Carlisle and we took the wee Saltire on the train...

...deep into England, to the small market town of Settle, in North Yorkshire.

A blurred shot of Dee (Starbjkrus) and myself with the Saltire in Settle Railway station.
Who can photoshop a kilt onto Dee?

"Muted" tartan? I wonder what the non-muted version looks like!

Either way, it's a neat looking tartan!

Thanks for the link on the statue as well!

Actually, it would need more maroon in it for that to happen!

Tuesday 30th March, the Xmarks Air Ship Saltire visited the Roberton Scottish Country Dance Class and was piped in by Pipe Major Malcolm Bruce of Hawick Scout Fellowship Pipe Band (on right) and piper Bill Campbell on left. The dancers and the pipe band send their greetings to xmarkers everywhere and especially those in the San Francisco bay area where the Saltire has her home base.

The Saltire was here in Hawick to celebrate Towser's fiftieth birhday. Fur Towser was probably completed by my late mother a few days earlier, but his date of birth has always been regarded as 2nd April 1960 when he was standing waiting to meet me when I returned home from a day out with my parents. My mother made lots of scots terriers from the same pattern for myself and other children, but most had her old dresses for a skin. Fur Towser was somehow more lifelike, in weighing heavier and being coated in fur fabric.

We had a special birthday cake.

Later in the afternoon Towser and the Saltire went to the big hoose.....

    .............To visit Ann.
I explained to Ann that the Saltire had come to see her all the way from the San Francisco bay area as a gesture of friendship.
