How Do you Observe Tartan Day?

I wonder if that's true, Chris? Or would the general populace just see this as another commercial push for buying tartan tat?

My inclination would be to to make a very special effort not to wear tartan on that day.

That is a candid set of answers to my unspoken question about whether Tartan Day will ever succeed in Scotland itself... you folks there have problems that we over here can never understand. I do think we need it here though, where most every ethnic group has some special day for themselves. And it comes at a time of year when Games etc have been scarce on the ground.

Anyway, the reponses here have hardened my resolve to go to work kilted on the 6th- we have a woman staff returning after a traumatic lengthy absence and are supposed to do something special for her. And what greater treat could there be than moi in a kilt?

I'll also have to pack along a bifurcated garment, since some situation could arise where a kilt would not be suitable attire-which is the main reason I was hesitating.
