Canada's equivalent to the flat cap for unofficial highland wear and no, I haven't got one at this point, but of course I have had and am sure I will again.

Thank you Mr Murdoch.
Yes, thanks Mr. Murdoch for sponsoring that bill!
Don't worry, though he may have received his Official Ontario Tartan kilt first, I'm sure you'll wear it better!

My hand goes up... (Answering Grant's question) I do not own such a hideous piece of flannel, and if I did, I'd have to beat myself with a burlap sack full of doorknobs.
Anyway, checking in as a proud Canadian, I especially like the U of A tartan and the Alberta tartan both. If I were a woman, I would so wear that dress of which NewGuise posted a photo (in the U of A tartan). However, that would be inappropriate so seeing my wife wearing it would be equally nice.
Otherwise, I have a very nice scarf in the Cape Breton tartan -- also a favourite. I can't say I'm very much enthralled with the Maple Leaf tartan, however. I wouldn't spend much on that -- only if it were offered very, very inexpensively.
Oh, and one more thing: to answer CMcG's question: I did post a photo of my Cape Breton scarf on here once, but the thread (and many others I've posted) seem to have vanished.... And I just don't have the time to rephotograph it and re-post it.... Sorry....

The image of the Cape Breton tartan didn't seem to upload. Let me help you with that:

That house is awesome!
As for the image of the Cape Breton tartan not uploading, it seems OK on my end but rather slow... same for the other images. Maybe I should go back and link smaller images so that they'll load faster

I don't have one either but have borrowed one in past when out tromping around my aunt and uncle's buffalo ranch in Saskatchewan. Very warm!
Actually, they are sometimes referred to as a "Buffalo Plaid", which may be a reference to a registered fashion tartan of that name:
A couple people mentioned they have the blue version, so here is an image of both blue and red together:

sorry for coming late to this topic.
we weave all the provincial tartans in 100% wool with the exception of Ontario, as this is a restricted tartan copyrighted by Scottish Imports of Hamilton.
though some are currently only available in 10 oz weight, we are in the process of weaving them all in 12 oz (which is quite suitable for most Canadian climates year round)

Interesting, an official Provincial tartan and it's restricted. I had my custom woven by D.C. Dalgliesh without any known issues with the copyright owner who is aware and "quite proud" that someone went to the length to have a kilt made in it. Still I'd like to see it more readily availiable, if it's an official tartan then the rights to it should not be private.
