To pick up where Mael left off, I've also worn my casual B&S Gunn modern on several occasions since I received it. It is also getting a good workout and has proven to be one of my favorites (but then all my kilts are favorites).
For an all machine made kilt it is well made and looks good.
To be fair, I had some problems getting it ordered. I didn't quite understand the measurement process since it differed from other kilts I'd had made by other makers. I called but whoever I talked to wasn't too sure either, so I gave her the measurements according to the B&S instructions. I was supposed to get a follow-up e-mail to verify what I'd sent but a week went by and nothing. So I called again and talked to someone else who walked me through the measurements again. That was good as the original measurements, as instructed by the first person, were totally wrong and the kilt wouldn't have fit.
My kilt arrived in about 2 weeks later and fit perfectly.
During a visit to their shop with McMurdo last year we were told that the tartan selections change from time to time, so I keep checking to see if one of "my" tartans might show up. I don't really need another kilt but for the price it'd be hard to pass up the opportunity.

I am frequently in your shop, and remember talking to you at the Fergus Highland Games about the "Built Kilt." I have been to many tartan shops in my time and I must say the staff at Burnett's and Struth have always made me feel welcome. I first visited your store when my Aunt was looking for a jacket to be made for her in the MacPherson tartan, as her husband my Uncle who was a MacPherson recently passed away. The Jacket was perfect and fit wonderfully even when we went back up for the primary fitting. Burnett's and Struth will always have my gratitude for the kindness shown my Aunt. I then chose to purchase a casual kilt from Burnetts and Struth in the Dress MacDonald Tartan in honour of my Uncle as one side of his family was MacDonald the other MacPherson. The kilt I purchased was hanging in the shop the day I went up with my Aunt and it was in my size. I went back up another day and got it for myself. Here is the review.

I have taken many visitors to Toronto up to Burnett's and Struth as I find the general demeanor of the staff is simply worth the drive. I have purchased many other items in the following years, and have bought several gifts as well. I wish you all the best with your business and I will certainly be returning.

Well, I've ordered today a second B&S Casual in Ancient MacCallum. Can't have enough clan tartan kilts for the upcoming Scottish Games season!

B&S made a 16 oz. Black Watch kilt for me about ten years ago, and it's the finest kilt I've ever owned in more than 40 years of kilt wearing. The tailoring is exquisite and the quality of the workmanship is excellent. I highly recommend B&S to anyone in the market for a true quality kilt.

Why not at least offer your customers the option of special ordering a really nice dress sgian dubh made by a company like Celtic Art, Ltd., who still make dress sgians with carved ebony hilts, sterling silver mounts and leather sheaths. And try to get away from those blasted cookie-cutter model sporrans that everyone in the business seems to crank out with their monotonous cantle designs and limited style selection. How about nice suede leather day sporrans with real hinged brass or silver cantles? Or evening dress sporrans with long goat's hair? The whole concept of "semi-dress" sporrans should be trashed - the only people who buy them are those who don't know any better and don't realize that they make for a horribly ugly sporran for either dress or casual wear. And daywear sporrans should be brown in most cases - everyone seems hell bent on pushing black leather these days, which looks positively dreadful with a tweed jacket! While a black leather sporran may be suitable for formal morning attire when one is wearing a black Argyll or Braemar jacket, brown has always been the best choice for tweed.
By the way, this happens to be the most idiotic-looking sporran I have ever seen:
The moron who put this cantle with this sporran should be tossed out on his ear
We Appreciate your feedback. We are always expanding our accessories to suit the needs of our customers. Since some of our customers like traditional accessories and other contemporary we try our best to carry a range instead of just a certain style. Our website's range of accessories is quite small compared to in store where you can find many more Sgian Dubhs. Our website is being updated on a regular basis to expand its product selection to appeal to people with different tastes.
Thanks for your feedback.

Thank you for informing us of the problems you incurred well ordering a kilt we will work on resolving this for future orders. We are pleased to hear one of customer service reps was able to assist you with your measurements and get you the perfect fit.
You are correct about tartans for casual kilts as they change usually seasonsally. Depends on which tartans we have in stock at the time. A post with stock levels will be up in the next couple weeks.
