    Otter: Germans?
    Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.
Bluto: And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough...
    [thinks hard]
Bluto: the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go!
    [runs out, alone; then returns]
Bluto: What the freak happened to the Delta I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? This could be the greatest night of our lives, but you're gonna let it be the worst. "Ooh, we're afraid to go with you Bluto, we might get in trouble." Well just kiss my a$$ from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. Wormer, he's a dead man! Marmalard, dead! Niedermeyer...
Otter: Dead! Bluto's right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part.
Bluto: We're just the guys to do it.
    D-Day: Let's do it.
    Bluto: *Let’s do it*!

See now I am typing this from a computer where I have a model of the Deathmobile in a box behind me.

So the general feeling is to let them fire you and collect unemployment. You are thinking of quitting first. I really can't offer much advise either way, I have done well in employment and lack the frame of reference here. So all I will offer is this.

If by chance you do decide to quite, do it Kilted. If by chance they let you stay for the two weeks you offer instead of firing you on the spot, be Kilted every day. After all, what are they going to do, fire you?

Nothing like hearing you're gonna get canned on your day off! Brings the film 'Friday' to mind...

I agree with the concensus here; let them fire you, don't sign off on any exit paperwork that details your 'offenses', and file for unemployment benifits. if they dispute your claim, appeal and tell them about your manager.

I am currently in a similar situation. I got laid off recently. Wait to get fired and stick it to them. Take a short paid vacation on the bookstore's dime.

If you have an employee manual be sure to familiarize yourself with the termination policy. If your employers have not followed it to the letter; you will have a field day at the Dept of Labor.

I would wait to get canned personally. Make them come up with a reason, quitting at this point is letting them off easy.

    1. Scotcop's name is Luke, feel free to use it.

    2. I feel that I would rather have a resignation on my resume/work history when I go to get my new job, than I would a "we had to fire this guy" no matter what they say.

Laws are different in each state but most have different waiting periods for fired/laid off vs quit. Wait for the separation notice don't quit. Yes tell them about the kilt experience.

There is another side to the argument of whether to quit or get fired. Getting fired blights your resume forever. If I thought I had another job lined up I would definitely quit.

Make sure you really do have the proffered job first however....I was once "promised" a job, quit in anticipation of the new one, and then the "promise" was never fulfilled.

    Lesson learned...
