im just back from Belfast tonight
the stena ferry was mobbed and the train had to add another 2 carriages to cope with the demand ive never seen the ferry or train so busy in all the years travelling to and fro from belfast ,im just glad to be home and safe
there was folk from dublin travelling to glasgow just to get to london for the trains to europe talk about a long way for a shortcut
we always get the rail and sail from glasgow central to belfast harbour alot of my friends thought we shouldve got a flight over well me and the misses got the last laugh on them with our prebooking the boat and trains we had been guaranteed a ride home shame about all those who shun the slower modes of transport that are stuck at the various airports

If you haven't had the webcam live feeds up today like I have you missed some really good video.
This afternoon the clouds parted a bit and the sun hitting the ash plume was quite the sight.
Then some tourist walked in front of the camera.

"Natural" can be a hazard.
I'm glad that kilt-wearing has such trivial downsides by comparison.

I've just received an e-mail from my 2 x offspring's British School (senior) and a whole list of teachers are stuck in the UK just now, at the end of the Easter hols, unable to come back to Oman.

Tartan Hiker and I were saying this morning that there seems to have been a lot of "geology" this year, with earthquakes, volcanoes and such. Thanks for the link, Barb. Those pictures are stunning. The ashy water with the sunlight reflecting off of it looks like mercury.
