It is interesting you make this comment. If you do a Google search you may find it, but their was a business article written recently that questioned Utilikilts being in their location in Seattle. (I do not know the city at all and have Zero personal opinion) It was asking whether being in the very high rent neighborhood they were in made a lot of sense from a business perspective or not. Now opening a retail location is San Francisco. That also means anyone in California who orders by mail is going to get hit with our out of control sales tax (nearly 10% in LA County)

I was at a wedding in Santa Monica, and had forgotten to bring the right shirt with me. I stopped at a store to buy one, and was staggered by the 9.75% sales tax. I'm not used to paying tax on clothes!
On the other hand, they don't seem to tax liquor very heavily at all in CA, and you can buy it at the 7-11.
I now return you to your regularly scheduled topic. :P

10% Sales tax? We dream of a 10% sales tax! Britain is currently 17.5% (Value Added Tax - same thing) and rising to 20% on 04 Jan 11. You don't want to open a shop here!

All in good humor, but I think that is one of the reasons we are not ruled from Westminster.

FWIW UK has a decent selection at Dragoncon in Atlanta (annual geek/nerd/comic/movie/everything con over labor day) so there is certainly a transient presence on the East coast (and their booth was BUSY). I'm sure they show up to other genre events as well.
