    Band of Brothers

I seem to recall from the book that Lt Spiers, who started his career as a platoon leader in the Screaming Eagles, was Scottish. Any info ?

Here's some info I ran across:

Speirs was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1920 and spent his first few years there until he emigrated with his family to Boston, Massachusetts, USA, arriving on December 26, 1924. He grew up in Portland, Maine. He attended military training in high school, which led to a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the infantry; Speirs then volunteered for the paratroopers. He served as a platoon leader with Dog Company at Camp Toccoa, Georgia and was shipped to England shortly before Operation Chicago.

Ironically he died in 2007 in/near Montana city named Glasgow.

    Some images of Ronald Speirs

Speirs was probably one of my favorite characters from Band of Brothers.
His bad @ss rep/attitude & that run thru the enemy at Foy

(In my platoon our 1st Sgt (former Ranger) reminded me a lot of Speirs. The man could inspire, and I'll tell you this, had he told me that we were invading hell armed only with water buckets, I'd been passing out the buckets & been right beside him! )
