Sporran Maker in Edinburgh
I remember seeing a saddlemaker/harness maker that has "of Edinburgh" in the title that makes a great daywear sporran. I tried searching for it, but the word Edinburgh kind of ruins the results. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I think you may be thinking of McRostie of Glasgow. First rate kit. The sporran, sporran strap and kilt belt, in the picture, are from them. They are well over thirty years old and have hardly shown any wear at all. Try: www.mcrostie.co.uk

They are the folks who make the sporrans with the familiar oval "real leather made in Scotland" stamp in gold lettering on the back of all their sporrans.
Do you have a web site for them? My googlefoo isn't working very well today.

You are quite right Jock. Definitely first rate sporran makers! I love how you can choose which kind of leather color you wish to have made, in both the sporran and its sporran strap. You look quite smart by the way! Glad to see your sporran at the correct height, as I know you would wear it in that manner, many often do not.

Well, sir, I now have a new need that I did not know of before. Wish me luck. It is great stuff and I must have one. My needs are few and simple but quality is a must. The products of McRostie appear to be first quality. Must have it!

Got one and I have to say WOW! I have found a contentment colored by excitement that is hard to describe. It really is first rate. Photos will follow. Their website does not show the product well enough. Maybe I can.

Thank you for the link, Jock.
Excactly what I have been looking for: High class sporrans that come with a leather strap and not a chain! One of them even without the tassels that I hate.
He is on my links page now: www.dress2kilt.eu/p0200.htm

I recently came across a gently used black McRostie with tassels, like the one worn by Jock Scot in the photo above, on eBay and was able to snag it for only $75, including shipping. Great deal on a very well made sporran and strap! I'd never have known about McRostie sporrans were it not for this forum.
