Oklahoma Bagpiper

This afternoon when I logged onto msn, the first news headline that greeted me was stories about the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombings.

Accompanying these photos on the msn homepage was an image of a lone piper playing at the Oklahoma City Memorial.

I captured the image & thought I'd share it here:

He had a bit of trouble starting (it happens to the best of us at times). The tune is "Dawning of the Day', which seems a bit odd for a memorial service.

The piper is from the DEA's Black and Gold pipe band; I don't know his name, but it may be Kevin Donnelly, the PS of the band.

I saw that on the news, I thought it was good to have the Piper.

Today, everytime the news has a bit on the bombing, it has been reported with piping in the background. I am not quite sure that "The Minstrel Boy" is the best tune to be playing, but that was what I heard.

I believe you are right about him being their pipe sergeant.

Actually, the tune he was playing was "The Dawning of the Day".

Thank you. I DO know the difference. When I heard him he was playing "The Minstral Boy".

Was that at the end of the ceremony? I haven't seen that part. When he led the procession in he was playing "Dawning of the Day", but I don't know what he might have played at the end, and none of the videos I could find show anything but the opening.
