Handforged Thistle Brooch, Pin, and Pendant
One of our members asked me if I could make her a Thistle Brooch Pin that she could also wear on a chain or cord as a pendant. She too is an artisan (fiber arts) and she wanted something handmade, not machine made.
This is my design:
Brass, hand-dropped glass, 3 inches diameter, copyright 2010

I have soldered on a pin back for use as a pin, and a loop for use as a pendant

Very nice!
It's rather big, it must be rather heavy, I guess.

It weighs only 40 grams (1.33 ounces), far less than most cast pewter/chrome pieces that one typically sees for sale.

Fantastic! You are a truly gifted artist and craftsman, good sir!
The idea of hand-dropped glass is very interesting... I'm imagining that it's rather like casting the glass in place. Fascinating.

Lovely, Mark! Beyond that, words fail me. 'Tis a pleasure and a privilege to see your new ideas here
