    Ah, prom time...

Our buddy Isaac was not allowed to wear his kilt because it was a costume. This, however, is beautiful formal wear!

Good thing reason and good taste won over this year. Why wear a kilt and Prince Charlie, when you can wear something nice- like glued together recyclables and garbage? How does this make any sense at all?

Unforunately there are some crazy people allowed to supervise our youngsters in schools.

Nighthawk, "not making sense" is a long tradition going back all the way to prehistoric cave life.

    Nighthawk,

I agree with my friend Bugbear here, indeed I'll go a step further. There seems to be many situations in the world where not making sense is actually a requirement.

I tend to be a bit of an idealist, so I resigned myself to not much making sense a long long time ago. That doesn't mean I don't believe in waging the battle against the senseless, but I hold little hope of prevailing.

    Regards,

    Brian

Now, Nighthawk. There you go again, trying to introduce reason and logic into an unreasonable and illogical situation. Come on, cut it out, you joker you.

We are dealing with unthinking, knee-jerk bureaucrats who will choke on a gnat and swallow a camel. I'll bet if some kid showed up wearing tails, a tee shirt, plaid jeans, and barefooted, no one would have said a word. And I'll bet there a few girls dressed like hookers who couldn't be seen on TV before 9:00 PM.

    But a kilt?

Logic and consistency are sadly lacking in some of those who dictate suitable Prom wear!

That juice pack dress is disgusting. I'm in favor of recycling and repurposing items, but that's just stupid.

I was a chaperon at my wife's school's prom and went kilted. She teaches at a jesuit school on the Pine Ridge Reservation and the kids loved it. They out-flashed me with velvet tux's, top hats, etc. Nobody gets "done up" like native kids! They never would have let someone in the door looking like that, and they live in what has been consistantly the poorest area in the country for years. I guess class and taste have nothing to do with income.

I now end my rant...for now.

I have about as much problem with a recycled dress as I do with a kilt, but I'm an artist.

She wore it with dignity so she gets the thumbs up from me.
