I'm not sure what your budget will stand, but I'm pretty sure that you can get Robert Mackie to make one like you want. It won't be cheap, but it'll be a fair price.
I have one like you have from glengarry Hats, and I have the same complaint. While I did not want one as large in circumference as what you are seeking, the one I got was just very small in circumference. Like you said, it's almost like a modern beret with gorsgrain.

Sorry...somehow my middle aged mind didn't register that...probably too busy looking at the photograph.
Have you tried What Price Glory?

Scroll down here. They say they make historic bonnets for film and theatre. Maybe thay can do your khaki version:

The WPG bonnet is a tam o' shanter, not a balmoral per se, but it is the right color:

So I'm not the only one, eh?
Thanks Jim, it doesn't hurt to ask, budget or not

No worries
Thanks for the assistance anyways. No, I hadn't thought to look at WPG yet.
And on that note....

I can't say I've ever thought about this before, Terry, but now you're putting doubts in my mind about my CEF Khaki bonnet as well.
