With all respect, orange and red don't go together very well IMO.

I agree. Looks superb to me. With my black barathea Regulation doublet, I have worn a 3 button, Macpherson red modern tartan waistcoat with my Macpherson red ancient kilt for evening wear-looked great-photo will follow. Also, with the Macphersons, one will often observe clansmen wearing their dress tartan kilts (mainly black and white) with fully-fashioned hose in the Macpherson red colours.

I don't see any problems with Clanranald's dress. Perfectly put together, IMO, although I might have expected an evening sporran.
