Actually you look pretty good. I think the white socks look OK largely because of the white shirt. As you wear the kilt and observe others wearing kilts, you will decide to add items, especially accessories, to your wardrobe. They can be expensive, but they help put the entire picture together.

Now you don't have to trash them. Soak them in left over coffee grounds and they will turn tan and look great with a lot of outfits.

You do realize that that hat is refered to affectationately in our home as "The Jock Scot Hat" or "Jock's Hat"?

No, no- he looks like a dork. Don't be so nice all the time! Jeez...
Just kidding...
Actually, you do look like your head is about to pop off because of how tightly you have the shirt tied up. But otherwise, I'd say you look good. (And I personally don't like Black Watch unless you're ex military. It's so generic, everyone in the world has something made from it! My wife has a Black Watch throw pillow that she had way before she ever even heard the word "tartan." Just my own personal bias though!)

Panache and his pith helmets are both historic and practical...one never knows when he'll need a soup bowl.
At least we all had our pleats in the back the first time! When I see pics like that I have to wonder what they were thinking.

Inside jokes... I always thought the yellow headed pith helmet emoticon thing was supposed to be a deer stalker hat, embodying Sherlock Holmes. It should be posted with an advisory: "newbie warning: for inside joke use only".

Just a bit of fun...no offense intended. It's much like the Jacobite shirts...personal taste of the wearer and the ability to be comfortable in it make all the difference.
Besides, aren't they vented on the top or sides? That wouldn't make a good soup bowl. Chips...popcorn...maybe.
