And I do appreciate that. I need all the help I can have. Again, thanks for the link, it was what actually lead me to the supplier that I used. If not for you, I may still be searching.

    Thanks again,
    Daniel Wier

It appears that you are looking for inexpensive tartan material to learn on. If this is true I have found that Joann Fabric's often carries lightweight PV in Royal Stuart tartan, Black, Red etc., Blackwatch and other plaid material. Some are fashion plaids and not associated with any clan and occasionally there can be clan plaids.

BEFORE EVERYONE JUMPS - NOTE I SAID THIS IS LIGHT WEIGHT, about 10-12 ounce a yard.

I believe, it is normally advertised as school dress plaids and sells for less than $10 dollars a yard. In the US PV is often listed as a Polyester Rayon blend.

I have made a number of kilts in this material and find it very nice. It is similar in weight to some of the commercial PV kilts I have purchased.

At this price I'm a lot less concerned about making mistakes.

I have not been able to find an example at Joann Fabrics online but if there is a store near by stop in and look.
If you see abbreviations, initials or acronyms you do not know the Xmarks FAQ section on abbreviations may help.

Yeah, I have been told that they only have those PV Tartans in the fall collection. So I will have to weight until then to get that. I already made the mistake of ordering the wrong PV. I ordered shirting PV that is about 9.5 oz weight, and while I went ahead and used it, it is WAY to light. You learn through your mistakes though, right?

I am surprised Marton Mills was going to take a month to arrive. I recently bought some material from them and it arrived to me (NY) in three days.

I've had Marton Mills delivery be all over the map. I have gotten things to Ohio in 5 days and another time it took around 3 weeks. I guess it depends more on the whims of the customs processing facility than anything else.

I've not yet been hit with fees though as they use parcelforce.
