Hunting Stewart Kilt
I,m looking for a good quality Hunting Stewart kilt 38-40 waist, At present I do not want to buy a brand new one but would prefer an ex hire but checking out all shops in Glasgow brought no results as its peak time for business and ex hire sales will be later on in the year. Any advice here?

I'll have a look around for you Jimmy. Have you tried St. Kilda? I was there yesterday and they have around 10 hire tartans in stock... I'm not sure if Hunting Stewart is one of them, though.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

How much do you want to pay? Try Tartanweb (Google) their standard Jura Range Hunting Stewarts are £189.

Check with the Ministry of Tartan for used kilts:

You could give Geoffrey (Tailor) in Edinburgh a ring to see if they have any.

St Kilda, unless they've moved since 2007, are at George Cross (or is it St George Cross?), right across from the George Cross underground station.
I stayed in Maryhill in 2007, at the Murano Street Student Village, and it was a pleasant walk that I did at least twice a day from there to the George Cross station. I would often stop in at St Kilda. There's also a cool little folk music shop there, just across the street.

Thanks to all who replied about a Hunting Stewart Kilt that I was looking for.
I have ordered a new one from St. Kilda in the Cowcaddens in Glasgow (thanks Paul), it should be ready in 4-6 weeks.
I have always fancied that tartan and have one of the cheap Hunting Stewart kilts which is good enough for informal wear but the reason I wanted a new one was for my niece's wedding in July of this year.
So the wedding and reception are taking place in Glasgow University so it should be a good time in the west end of Glasgow.
I would appreciate any thoughts on what colour of socks that i should wear with Hunting Stewart, normally I have only worn white socks with my kilts as they are mostly dark in colour, but the hunting Stewart is a brighter kilt
What do you think?
