Yum. That was some tasty whisky. The venue was very large... I'd say there were over 200 people in my session... it got to be standing room only, so if you're going, be sure to get there early!
The evening started with a wee waught of 10 yr fine oak. Then throughout we sampled 12 sherry cask, 15 fine oak, 17 fine oak, and 18 yr sherry cask libations interspersed with a presentation. All were excellent and had their own virtues; even the youngest was exceptionally smooth. If I were to factor in cost considerations, then the 10 yr FO and 12 yr SC would rank my best values, though the upper tiers were phenomenal, as well.
Overall it was a good experience (and great whisky), but I think it could have been better done by reducing the session sizes. Changing up the presentation may have been good, too; it wasn't quite as informational/educational as I'd have hoped.
The kilt was, of course, well received. I got several compliments, thumbs ups, and back slaps from the lads, who all seemed amused to see a kilt at -- heaven forbid -- a Scotch tasting The lasses only paid compliments when they thought I was out of earshot, though. Luckily, my mate was walking a bit behind me and he was able to relay them to me later Through their appreciative whispers, I learned that kilt hose are an unsung hero of highland attire, as they play nicely with one's calves. I think it was Zardoz who used to have in his sig file "Pants are for people with ugly legs."

I was lucky enought to attend the Macallan tasting last night w/ some friends and family as a early birthday celebration. Great spirits, and a wonderful evening.
Here is a picture from the event.
