I gotta remember that answer .
Rather than the two pouches you attached, how bout seeing if the Nightstalker sporran could be made from similar material? Or "Nightstalker" like, anyway? I guess I would opine that there's a certain shape that says "sporran", and since you're absolutely right that the style and material of those pouches would work great, take it one step further and round 'em out like a standard sporran.
If those pouches are inexpensive, maybe a little exploratory work with some scissors, needle and thread? The one on the left, if the corners were chamfered rather than rounded, would look pretty good IMHO.
FWIW, if you pull a few links from that chain, the sporran will sit at a better height without any need to change the strap. I attacked the frog end of my own chain (it came about as long as yours) with a pair of dikes and some pliers, so any "accidents" of my attention would be hidden. If those links are anything like the ones on mine, they're not actually welded, the plating (if any) is just over the seam...so I didn't actually even have to cut anything, just spread a couple loops and then bent the loops on the frog back together after "adjusting".
Yeah, I should swap the chain to something less potentially damaging, I know...

It's actually only one bag just back and front views. In this cases I won't need a chain as this pouch is made to got on the "rigger" belt I am wearing.
