Got a look last night at RB51's latest sporran, hot off the press and just finished yesterday.

So I'm gonna push him a little to put up some pix -- it's a beaut!

Thanks for the nudge Chuck. Here are a couple of pics of my latest creation, inspired by the ideas and craftsmanship I've seen on this forum. The unicorn in the middle is from Clan Cunningham's crest. I had a bit of a problem with the gusset gaping open on both sides, and ended up wetting it and clamping in the closed postion and that seemed to take care of it.

Wonderful work! The British Tan and Black make for such an attractive combo.

BTW:a trick I read about somewhere is to lay a thin bead of cement on the gusset where it will roll over the front face, then turn the bag right side out and continue assembly once the cement has set. That way the gusset won't puff out and will maintain it's shape.

Can I ask what tool you used to get the pinked edge at the bottom of the cantle area (the scallop)?

Artificer, I just struck a line about 1/16th inch in and then used a small hole punch to go around the outside edge. Probably slower than using a proper tool, but then I have lots of time . Do they actually make a pinking tool specific for this job? And thanks for the tip on keeping the gusset in line; I was thinking that might be a way of doing it, and am now going to have to give it a try.

Very clever use of a tool you already had! I was thinking about sharpening a large pattern veiner. I'm going to test our your way, it is really very attractive.

They do make several pinking tools, but they're not the kind of thing you generally find at a Tandy type of store (they run $150-200US each).

I've also heard of a properly shaped and sized wood gouge being used to good effect, which I may try as well. This results in a 'convex scallop' rather than the 'concave scallop'.
