Well it wasn't on my Wish List before, because I'd never seen it, but an X Marker visiting Locharron posted this photo of Locharron's new tartan Auld Scotland, and I love it:

Seems like a great place to jump in.

    So far I have:
1- USAK casual in MacMillan Black PV
1- Currently being made in Lochcarron Strome MacMillan Old Weathered
1- Kilt length of Lochcarron Auld Scotland tartan being shipped (thanks to Josh for the Ebay heads up!).

    Still on the short list:

    1. Strathmore's Lochaber WOB
    2. House of Edgar's 13 oz.MacMillan Hunting Modern
3.MacDonald Modern (?) I love the NS Highlanders 2nd bat. kilts (Paternal grandmother was a Scottish Kellie, sept of MacDonald as far as I can find)
    4. Marton Mills Holyrood
    5. Lochcarron Isle of Skye (really common, but damn is it pretty)

Just thinking what fortunate times we live in to even dare to dream of having more than one kilt! Blessed indeed

I agree this is a very nice tartan, I really like it. I am wondering, though, because you had ordered a length if it, is this only available by special order?
Is it not a tartan that is regularly available?

    Thanks

You can never have too many. I'm still pretty fresh with this, and have accumulated only a 5 yard Ramsay Red Modern (13 oz House of Edgar Old and Rare) and a casual Ramsay Hunting (PV from USAK).

But I'd like to add onto that with Ramsay Hunting Ancient, and maybe an 8 yard Ramsay Red. Also MacLean Hunting. And I'm sure as my wallet grows *and decreases again* that the list will grow. Probably to encompass more MacLean and MacKinnon.

I called Lochcarron and it is available and priced mid range (select) It may end up in my doorway someday (once I recover financially from my X-marks tartan order...)

I am sure anyone who sells Lochcarron's cloth can get it to you. Unfortunately Lochcarron does not sell directly to private individuals...

No Seanaachie, it is my understanding that it is a new (2008) Lochcarron tartan but they have not updated their website in quite some time to reflect its addition. In fact, neither of the retailers that sell for them, Tantanandclan, and the one that is a direct link from the bottom of the Lochcarron website, show it in a tartan search on their sites either. But, I was informed by Scottish Tartan Museum that it is an available stock tartan (not special order).

I was able to buy 4 yards double width from an ebay retailer who was selling off a store's inventory. I got it for about half the price of retail. Woo hoo! I have a local kilt maker who will do the work. As it is a stock tartan, any kilt maker should be able to get it for you.

I didn't wait for a swatch as I did not want to miss out on the deal. But, it has received rave reviews from those people who have seen it in person.

    I hope you get some!
