    Royal Highlanders of Canada

Stanford Evan Young of the Royal Highlanders of Canada

Private Herbert George Laight - 42nd Bn Royal Highlanders (Canada) shown wearing a khaki glengarry:

The CEF issued both blue and and khaki Glengarries, although the Khaki version was not known to be worn outside of Canada and was discontinued in 1916. The examples shown below here are a Glengarry worn by Captain Joe McPeake from the 236th Infantry Battalion (New Brunswick Kilties) from Fredericton New Brunswick (top), and an issued khaki Glengarry worn by a member of the 42nd Infantry Battalion (Royal Highlanders) from Montreal Quebec (bottom). Period photographs show that the the Black Watch Other Ranks usually wore the Balmoral in Canada and the Tam o' Shanter overseas.
