Indeed -- according to the article, quite a bit of WWI material ended up on the cutting room floor. Quite a few members of the Calgary Highlanders ended up in the movie.

I wonder if some of them were the kilties playing football (soccer) in the deleted camp scenes?

Not a Regimental Crest but I do have a sgian dubh on my right calf. It's my most commented on tattoo. A security screener at Glasgow airport really liked it. When asked, I tell people it's for times when it is socially unacceptable to be armed I'm at least symbolically armed. They seem to appreciate that reason. Here is the pic.

Sadly, the article, which was on canadiansoldiers.com, is no longer available.

Todd,
is this by chance the missing article?
ON THE SET OF LEGENDS OF THE FALL
It talks a lot about the Highlanders, and has numerous photos, including this one:
...as a side note, I hope he removed the glasses. From what I can tell they were non-period in style
Also to read the other pages, the links don't work. So, I'm including links below to the other two webpages of this article:
LOTF part 2
LOTF part 3

Todd,
I didn't want to hijack my own thread, so I posted the deleted scenes video (with the above described scene) in it's own thread:

Cool
I went back to my post above and added direct links to pages 2 & 3 to make it easier for everyone to read.

Canadian Scottish Regt
Here's one I found of a member of the Canadian Scottish with a Scot's thistle tattooed on his left calf:
