I'd leave the arms off. The face is what is recognizable... and his hands are anthropomorphic which would be extra creepy.

Although I suggest making it double as a puppet if you can manage--it'd be a great act for a ceilidh.

I'm not sure whether this is a regular Muppet character, but it's an ingenious use for a hand puppet. It's a YouTube video song.

Kids: Don't Try This At Home!

I would be very careful about hunting cookie monsters! If not done right, he won't take the bait, and it'll be YOUR legs and arms you have to worry about being taken off.

At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

I think Jock Scot was shooting for Oscar the Grouse the other day.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

I had that happen once. We were camping and I had made s'mores. I thought it was a bigfoot at first... the little bugger jumped me and took off with my graham crackers! Left the chocolate and marshmallow though. Scared the heck out of the kids, too.

You, sir, are so correct! I say, shoot the thing and put it back in the ground to re-fossilize!

I'd go for a barney sporran. Actually given his size one could get quite a few out of him. As far a Elmo goes, he's small and wouldn't make a good sporran, but you could slice him up and make sporran straps out of him.
