Short story: It's here! It's great! It swishes!
Long story:
A couple of days after I had ordered the kilt, the Scotland Kilt Company contacted me by email, informing me very politely that they didn't have the 34 inch kilt in stock any more, but they did have a 38 inch kilt of the same tartan and wool. The maker had discontinued the line and they only had one kilt of that sort left, and if I thought 38 inches would be too large for me, they would refund all my money.
As my actual size is around 36 inches, I answered that I would take the kilt, for I knew I could move the strap buckle myself or ask my wife to do it, to make the kilt fit me better.
On Thursday last week, I got an email that my kilt had been despatched. Yesterday it had arrived at our post office. This morning I went to get it.
I took the kilt out of the parcel, and tried it on. It was a bit too big even with the straps tightened all the way. So I detached the overapron buckle - there's only one buckle on either side - and moved it a short way toward the back of the kilt and used my Husqvarna to sew it back on under the lining. Then I tried it on, and it fit very well, and there's a lot of room for me to grow, as I know will happen in the winter.
Then I took out my camera, which informed me that the battery is exhausted. So, no pics yet. Instead, I went out for a walk with my kilt and my dog. So far, the kilt feels great - and quite different from my cotton kilts, which also are very nice to wear.
The bottom line: I got no mind-blowing experience, but a piece of clothing I know I will wear a lot and enjoy very much.
The next post will contain pictures and more details of the kilt. Thanks for your interest!

Congratulations to your new kilt. Mine from The Scotland Kilt Company has three straps, your kilt only two. Obviously it it not the same kilt and that you should be happy for.
Do post some pics.

This is what they gave me at the post office - a parcel the size of a big book. Not at all like the impressive and sturdy packaging I received with my Freedom Kilt. I wondered if the seller had sent a sporran or something like that instead of my kilt.
Fortunately, I was proved wrong. There was indeed a kilt inside the plastic. It is made of 16oz wool in Scotland by John Morrison Kiltmakers.
As already noted, I had to move the strap a bit to make the kilt fit me. So I carefully pinned the lining aside, detached the strap and let Old Faithful do the sewing. Quite simple, very clean.
Then I put the kilt on again. I currently only have one sporran, the used-jeans one. So, that's what I wore.
And here's the pleat shot. You can see here also the "2/3 kilt hose" I wear with my Dr. Martens boots so they don't turn to portable saunas.
My only concern about this kilt is that I think I'll have to make a new sporran to go with it.

That's a good idea with the socks.
Nice kilt!

Hi, Maksim – Congratulations on becoming the proud owner of a truly handsome kilt.
The blue kilt hose you wear is very like the khaki hose tops I wore when I was with my regiment. I found them troublesome, and wished I had proper socks of that length, but you are probably right about your boots turning into a sauna!
And now you will have to make/acquire a proper leather sporran to go with the kilt!
Regards,
Mike
