Help! How do I clean a little stain off?
Mod's if this is in the wrong place please move it to its correct location.
I sat down in a plastic lawn chair with my Isle of Man box-pleat on the other day and didn't notice the chair had some dirt and some water, anyway there is a small dried spot in the middle of a pleat. It appears to have soaked through. Its very small but I want to get it out! How's the best way? Cold water and dabbing the clothe? Warm water?
thanks,
dave

Warm too cool water, possibly a tide stick if there's a stain and air dry.
Wool is tough stuff. No need to be overly careful.

If there's dirt dried on the fabric, take a brush and sweep away the dry stuff before you wet it.

I take a towel, put it under the kilt, and dip a Q-tip in something like Era. Doesn't take much. I just dampen the spot on the kilt and press up and down with the Q-tip to force the detergent through the fabric. Don't rub - it will leave a slightly fuzzy spot. If it's a stubborn stain, I let it sit a bit and prod it some more with the Q-tip. Then, I take another towel that's wet and blot rinse the spot.
I've successfully removed catsup, mustard, meat pie, and even red clown makeup (don't ask) from my daughter's Antarctica kilt (and, of course, the spots are always in the white part of the tartan....).

I'd be quite impressed if she managed to get the majority of stains on a part of the tartan that wasn't white!
A little dirt shouldn't be any problem. But like Barb said, be sure you don't rub lest you get fuzz.
