Hello from Western Washington
Klahowya (Hello) Gentlefolk,
I have been sent to this forum several times when searching various kilt and tartan topics. I feel it is only decent to sign up, be counted, and a contributing party by way of saying thank you for what I have already recieved.
As a long time sufferer of the heat (please no comments from the south, as it is all reletive to what one is accustomed), I took the plunge several years ago and bought a utility kilt. I had seen them showing up at Contra dances. I was immediately hooked. Of course it didn't hurt that I bought it at the Northwest Folklife Festival and within the hour was on the dance floor.
Now independantly, I had done quite a bit of sewing for my living history activities. Combined with a comment from a neighbor that Washington State had adopted a district tartan, I set to work with the Art of Kiltmaking and suddenly I had three (there was a khaki test kilt).
Now I am up to eight and experimenting with the box pleat. I have already created my own X.2 version of the x-kilt. Still undecided on how to pleat the Maple Leaf, bought two years ago. That however is another story.
best Regards,
Elf
