Just to make it a little more interesting, neither the U.S. or U.K have real football, we in Australia have real Football . We also have Rugby League, Rugby Union, Soccer and Gridiron.

isn't Aussie football a bastardization of American Football, Football, Rugby and kick the can, played on a round field, and they stop and have a drink of beer, and a smoke when the ball went out of play forcing the referee to put the ball back into play because the lunatics playing were too drunk to do it???

No we play on a oval with a maximum of 22 players with only 18 allowed on the field at any one time. We don't have to have a defence team, a offence team, and a special team (about 46 players all up I believe) all cause the boys get a little tired. We also don't need tons of padding because our footballers are real men and play a real mans game And the field of play is a fair bit bigger.

Just as an aside, when I was a school we had to do some research on the who the fittest athletes were and guess who came out on top, Soccer players

Also I would like to apoligise to the OP, if this is getting on your wick just tell me to pull my head in.

Yeah, I've heard that too, however I've had my doubts when compared to a Tour de France cyclist in the Pyrenees Mountain stage (ala Lance Armstrong in peak condition)

I must admit BoldHighlander my study of Athletes fitness was a couple of decades ago and it was only done through books and papers available at the time. Well before the advent of PC's and the Web. And yes, watching those guys on the tour, shows whatever sport you do, at that level, you have to be superbly fit
