Guys,
The thing here that I am trying to get across is that it is not the hanger that is the problem.
I can hang a kilt even with cheap, free, hangers. I can use wooden pants hangers. I can use skirt hangers that I steal from my wife.
I have tried about every hanger available. Even those supposedly designed specifically for kilts.
Why spend more money on some special hanger when almost any hanger will work if you just put the kilt on it in a way that the hanger supports the weight of the kilt and is not over three or four layers of pleats.
Take any two old hangers you have in your closet. They can be spring clips, wooden bars, or metal teeth. Hang the kilt as I show in the tutorial and I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
By the way, the Kilt I am using in the pictures is a 16oz Tewksbury Tank. It weighs in at just over four pounds. If I can hang that kilt, with this method, on cheap free hangers, you can hang any kilt.

I wear the kilt because: Swish + Swagger = Swoon.

Celtic Croft Kilt Hangers
We also offer kilt hangers. They measure 20" long with 4 sturdy medal clamps. The clamps have rubber grippers to protect your kilt from the metal. You can check them out here : http://www.kilts-n-stuff.com/kilts/k...lt-hanger.html

Thank you all for your prompt replies, you guys are GREAT!
Steve, I truly appreciate the frugality of your hanger system, and your willingness to do a tutorial on it's use. Many of us may not have the willingness, nor the ability to purchase fancy new hangers so it's great to have options. However, I think I like the simplicity of one hanger, and the ability to piggyback them in order to save space, enough to take the plunge.
I placed an order for 4 of the Stillwater hangers. If for some reason they don't work out, I have all of your PM addresses, and I WILL come collecting!! :-)
Thanks again for all of your help!
MODs, feel free to close this thread when ever you feel it has lost its utility.

Why not just roll the darned thing up? I don't see the need for all these fancy accessories.

Thanks for your input Colin, but I don't have storage space for a rolled or folded method of storage. I would need to build a shelving system in my closet, which is not really an option for me.

I too lack the drawer space for 15 rolled kilts but cann afford the foot and a half to two feet of hanging closet space it takes to hang the 15 kilts i own, 13 of which are either 13 or 16 oz 8 yard kilts, the other two being an 8yd PV and a 6 yd 16oz casual. Being a gentleman of substance my kilts are in the 44-46 inch waist range, and being tall all are 26 inches long (save the PV which is 25 inches long), which makes for some substantial weight. As Steve says many techniques will work and to each his own based on his/her needs and preferences. I like the long specifically desgned kilt hangers that I first bought from Scotweb, and now buy from Celtic Croft, with the 4 clips, as they are sturdy and can hold my 4+ pound kilts securely (even in a checked travel garment bag) in a minimum of space and all hanging neatly together in one corner of one closet in a series of clear plastic storage garment bags, where I can keep track of them and keep things in order. The shorter skirt/pant/kilt hangers work but require two for my sizable kilts, and I just dont like folding my kilts for long term storage personally. With the long hangers I never have an apron rumple or disheveled pleats in my kilts when they come out of the closet for wear, no matter how long they may have been hanging since last wearing, or how packed into the garment bags I have made them. Although the celtic Croft/Scotweb hangers DO cost a few dollars more (about $10 or so each), considering that I am hanging kilts worth up to 50+ times that amount makes the small extra cost of the hangers worth the investment, IMHO.
But to each his own.

I found some really good hangers for my kilts (Happiness is the fact that this is plural!) at Walmart. The are similar to the deluxe one at SWK, but have felt on the inner bit of the clampy bar. They weren't terribly expensive either

the ones i purchased i kept 4 and gave the rest to family and friends so they can hang the kilts up , i wouldn't class a kilt hanger as a fancy accessory though to me it just makes sense to have two hangers per kilt and 20 quid for 10 (with postage) it seemed the right thing to do i know these hangers will last as long as the kilt, free plastic hangers prob have a lifespan of 10-20 years ,
like others i don't have the space to roll a kilt up ,rolling a kilt is great for travelling but i refuse to spend 200 quid on a kilt to roll it up would you buy a expensive suit then fold it into a drawer......chances are no
