Opinions on a military jacket

Ok, here is the jacket with a waistband and pleating. I can wear a belt over the waistband and might actually put in beltloops, not sure yet. I am in the military so maybe that is why I like this look, but I wasn't going for the Army surplus look. Opinions?

Very smart looking indeed! It looks so good I would consider altering my own service jacket, alas, I am in a larger size now. (Probably due to all of those extra PT sessions)

You might also want to consider the possibility of black leather buttons to tone down the "military" look.

Well I just made another one for my brother, and did add the beltloops and switched to a dull silver celtic knot style button. I should have made his first, now he gets a better one. I also did not add the buttons on his sleeves. Thanks for all the pointers, this site rocks!

I think the jacket looks very nice. I think this version retains the tailored look and is well balanced. It would also look good with a belt. I don't see "army surplus" at all.

I thing this looks really great as is, but a kilt belt worn over the jacket at the waist would transform it from just great to fantastic!

Alternatively, you could try a Sam Browne rig, for a slightly more 'military' look.

Either way, I agree with MacMillan that belt loops in the back are a must.
