Gordon, what unit were you with? (just curious)

During the 90's/early 2000's I was a member of the BAR's Feldjäger Corps (von Prueschenk's Co'y), and until early last year was adjutant for Joseph Brant's Volunteers, as well as "attached" to Butler's Rangers (Frey's Co'y) & the 84th RoF Royal Highland Emigrants (all BAR units).

Now, given distance & location, I'm concentrating on maritime impressions of the late 16th century ("gentleman of fortune", based upon my 1st cousin 8x removed who was a pirate raiding with Avery & Tew in the Indian Ocean), & as a Rev War privateer.

Wow, you certainly are a busy guy.

I was in Billop's Corps, Staten Island Militia. Do not think that they are around anymore. Bill McMillan from the Richmondtown Restoration headed it up. It sure was a lot of fun being a Loyalist, and it really changed my attitude towards history and politics. We used to enjoy hanging out with the Hessians and the 42nd.

No, I don't think they are. But then, sadly, many units are not anymore as well (including Joseph Brant's Volunteers).

Yeah, being on the "other side" also opened my eyes

I was a busy guy, which is why (along with health issues & $$$) had to more or less drop out of reenacting. I was also an ACW reenactor as well (2nd Kentucky Cavalry "Morgan's Raiders").

The great thing with what I'm doing now, I'm running solo & don't have to worry about making x-amount of events...I can pick & choose. I would like to do this some day at Fort Ti /Crown Point:

(a bateaux sailing off of Crown Point to Fort Ti w/ members of the Queen's Rangers & the Indian Dept on board).

I was also a member of (the BAR's) Frey's Company in the 90s. Living in Virginia I was only able to make one or two events a year (and only stopped because I spent all my weekends taking my kids to soccer, horseback riding, band practice, etc). Just recently I joined Brant's Volunteers, but have the same distance issue that will restrict my participation.

As as aside, I'm on a tour of the Revolutionary War Mohawk Valley for the next 3 days. No kilts, but today I'm wearing my 42nd RHR t-shirt (and I have one for Butler's Rangers and the 71st Highlanders for the other days).

Being a long distance member (on the left coast was not easy ).
I'm sure you knew Dave Solek then. I spent many a late night chatting with him

Did you join another Brant's? I know of two others out there. One is with the BVMA (Mario heads them up, they started as BAR but decided to join the local BVMA instead). The other is further west & I think with the NWTA.
