Tartan design
Okay, so I am going to College this year. Have had a few opinions on this, but I would like to design a tartan and purchase a kilt in my school colors.
Something similiar to this:
Good idea? Not Good? Any suggestion on better design etc.

Not bad at all! Did you design it?

Yes, I designed it. I would love to buy a kilt with a tartan of my school and go to games in it. Would love to paint myself orange and do like blue war stripes or something, along with the kilt.

A very sound design, if I do say so!
My only advice has to do with the white stripes - in my opinion, a tartan is more pleasing to the eye when the various stripes are different widths - when you use the same threadcount in multiple stripes it can give the tartan a blocky "mathematical" feel. In the case of your tartan, I think it would look best if the white stripe on the golden/orange was narrower than the white stripes bordering the blue. You might also consider making the blue or gold/orange stripes in visibly different widths as well (in this case I'd make the blue 6-8 threads wider).
Aside from that (minor) thing, it's a lovely tartan!

That actually looks the same to me...
If you're using ScotWeb's tartan designer, I've noticed that the "enlarged" image often takes a while to be updated after you make changes to it.
Refreshing the "gallery" page will sometimes fix this issue. Otherwise, I'm not sure why the changes aren't apparent...

Keep in mind if you use Scotweb's designer, your design becomes their property.

Yes, that would be the issue. I hate it when it does that to me.
For now it can be viewed here: http://www.scotweb.co.uk/tartandesign/details/19892

Ah, I like it much better now.
Again, very well done!
EDIT: I see you've used the colours from the "pro" range. I've been very curious to see a ballpark estimate on the pro-colour surcharges as I tend to like my blues a bit brighter than the "weavers" colours that they have.

Thank you. Now, If only I had the money. Oh well, I am just going to be a freshman, got plenty of time.
Yes, I know the Tartan becomes their Property. It is a tartan for my school so I really do not care.
If and I should, design a Tartan for my family, I would not use them so that I could keep the rights.
