    Yet Another Tartan to ID

I've been perusing tartans and kilts quite a lot of late and I came across this image:

It has no accompanying information on what the tartan is - just a blurb about pleating to the sett.

As I have a possible tie to Clan MacQueen, I found this sett interesting as it looks quite a bit like the MacQueen tartan, but in blue with a pink (or white?) stripe.

    Thanks in advance!

That looks to me like the Warrior Tartan from Marton Mills in their Balmoral or P/V line.

    Thank you, Steve!

I wouldn't be surprised - it looks much bluer in this picture and more purple in the MM picture. Probably just the light.

    Thanks again!

Looking at the threadcount, though, doesn't the warrior only have three purple stripes rather than four as in this picture?

Don't think it's the one suggested, as that one looks more purple and white as opposed to the one in question looking to be in black, blue and pink. Also, as you mentioned Cygnus, your tartan has four bold blue stripes whilst the one suggested has three (purple) stripes. Unfortunately, I have no idea which one it might be, but will let you know if i cross paths with it..

That's a product of the pleating. Read them down rather than across and you'll get four.

That's what I mean, Xman - the tartan in the picture has four stripes while the Warrior tartan seems to only have three.

It's the four stripes that interest me, really, as that's what makes the tartan so similar to the MacQueen.

Ah, my mistake. I misinterpreted the small image size in the Marton Mills jpg as overlapping with four bold strips. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

The sett is the same as Gagetown (New Brunswick) but in that the single overstripe on the black was the same shade of blue as the larger blocks. A production variant perhaps?

I spent the evening digging through tartans by colour and after looking through the 384 samples that came up with a "blue black blue" in the pattern, I didn't see this specific tartan.

It doesn't seem to be registered.

I asked because I had recently designed a "MacQueen Blue" tartan that I was quite fond of, and this appeared to be similar so I wondered if somebody had beaten be to the punch!

Thank you for lending me your expertise!
